A reverse time travel

The road here is a journey back in time. You as a visitor start the journey in the present and wander back to when the ice cap melted. The starting point is Östergötland and the Östgötland landscape.

In each room, you will be greeted by a completely unique experience. With the help of design, objects and images, some of the puzzle pieces that created the big puzzle that is our present are shown.

Mountain grave

A central part of the exhibition is the archaeological finds in the Stone Age grave that was found when the Bergsrondellen in Linköping was built in the 1950s. Here you will also find Oscar Nilsson's reconstructions of the three people – a man, a woman and a small child – who, together with a dog, were in the grave.

Eleven rooms

The road here consists of eleven rooms. Each room represents a historical era and has its own design created to reflect that particular time.

A large number of the items have not been shown before and parts are on loan from the History Museum.

One of the deposits is the so-called "seax from Skälstad", which was found in a field at the northern entrance to Norrköping.
