1700-tal
Rococo
After the baroque followed rococo. It was inspired by asymetrics and the helix of the shell. The darkness was substituted by lighter pastel colours and furniture became less heavy in shapes. Eyes were painted as to follow our steps. The trend in dressing and manner were the royal culture of France which spread across Europe. Faces were still pale and in reality often enhanced with powder. Females laced their waists in corsets. The rich entertained them self with role playing games in parks until the people got fed up and started a revolution in 1789.
Gustavian style
Gustavian style is the swedish term for the style following Rococo in the end of 1700s. It was named after the king Gustaf III. Ancient style ideals were reinstated and lines became tighter. Pastel colors were changed to white and marble.
