Barock 15-1600-tal
Dutch still life and landscape paintings stems from a time when trade and navigation made Holland a leading art nation. The still life paintings are often full of symbols. An hourglass, for example, will remind you that life is finite. The Baroque grew popular during the 1600s. The art is dramatically conveyed and with few light sources and dark backgrounds. Stylistically, the baroque era was bombastic and heavy.
