Medeltid - Medieval times
In the Middle Ages the church was central to people's lives. Belief in heaven and hell were obvious and uncontradicted. The artist was a craftsman among others. They carried out the orders assigned in which religious themes dominated. When saints were depicted, they were done so with their attributes for recognition 's sake. Saint Birgitta´s attribute is a quill.
